Camp Traditions at CTM

Traditions hold a special place at Camp Thousand Miles, enriching the camp experience for the entire CTM community

Opening Ceremony

To commence each program at Camp Thousand Miles, there’s nothing quite like the magic of the opening ceremony. This opening night tradition sets the stage for the adventures to come, creating an atmosphere filled with excitement and camaraderie. It’s a moment when campers and staff join together, eager to embark on a journey of exploration, personal growth, and unforgettable memories.

Thousand Mile Achievements
At Camp Thousand Miles, we understand the significance of achievements, big and small, during our camp adventures. To honor and commemorate these special moments, campers will receive small mementos that will serve as lasting reminders of their accomplishments for many years to come. These meaningful tokens are more than just keepsakes; they are symbols of the growth, friendships, and memories created at camp, serving as a source of inspiration and nostalgia long after the campfire has dimmed.

Evening Lineup

The spirit of appreciation doesn’t stop after the activities are over. Every evening, as the campers gather for dinner, they take a moment to express gratitude. They do so by recognizing fellow campers who have made a difference, however small, in creating a better camp experience for everyone. This practice reinforces positive connections and camaraderie among campers. It’s a reminder that at Camp Thousand Miles, every individual’s contribution, no matter how seemingly insignificant, is valued and appreciated.

Giving Back

Embracing the spirit of giving back is an intentional mission of Camp Thousand Miles. Every act of kindness we foster is purposeful, even if the recipients are chosen serendipitously. Service projects are integrated into several of our programs, and the ethos of giving back permeates all our endeavors within the communities we visit. We firmly believe in the transformative power of selfless actions and their capacity to leave a lasting positive impact on the places we explore. By instilling the values of empathy, compassion, and responsibility in our campers, we not only enrich their lives but also inspire them to be conscientious global citizens who make a difference in the world. “Always Stay Humble and Kind”

Closing Ceremony

As a special and significant moment during the Closing Ceremony of The Camp Thousand Miles program, campers are honored with the achievement of CTM citizenship. This prestigious recognition serves as a culmination of their journey and participation in the program, symbolizing their growth, accomplishments, and the deep connections they’ve forged throughout their camp experience.

CTM citizenship is not just a mere title; it represents a sense of belonging and a commitment to the values and principles upheld by Camp Thousand Miles. It signifies that campers have not only completed the program but have also embraced the spirit of the camp wholeheartedly.

Campfires

Of course, no discussion of camp traditions would be complete without mentioning the iconic campfires. These gatherings, complete with the delightful treat of s’mores, create a cozy and nostalgic setting where campers and staff come together. Around the crackling flames, they bond, share stories, and sing traditional camp songs. These campfires encapsulate the very essence of camp life – the sense of togetherness, the warmth of friendship, and the joy of shared experiences.

These traditions not only create lasting memories but also instill values such as teamwork, appreciation, and a deep love for the camp experience, ensuring that Camp Thousand Miles remains a place where campers grow, learn, and create cherished memories that will endure for years to come.
